Both credential levels of this online program prepare students to take the Certified Professional Coder (CPC®) certification exam from the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC).

Upon successful completion of the Certificate or A.S. Degree program, all SJVC Medical Billing and Coding graduates who pass the AAPC CPC exam and complete Practicode are eligible to achieve full CPC status upon submission of school transcripts to the AAPC. Fees for the CPC examination and student membership to AAPC are paid for by SJVC upon successful completion of prescribed coursework.*

It is the student/graduate’s responsibility to locate an available AAPC test site to schedule and take the CPC examination.

*Payment for more than one retake of CPC is the responsibility of the student or graduate. Failure to sit or pass either exam does not constitute a refund or discount in tuition.
