Train to Assist Surgeons in the Operating Room
SJVC’s Surgical Technology program prepares students to assist surgeons and care for patients before, during and after surgeries. Our students will learn how to prepare equipment and patients for surgery. Students also learn how to assist surgeons during operations by practicing the correct methods for passing them sterile instruments and other supplies.

3 Reasons Students Prefer SJVC
Study the principles of asepsis and the practice of sterile technique. Learn the correct attire and required furniture, instrumentation, equipment, and supplies.
Sterilization Techniques
Patient Care
Learn the roles of the surgical team members. Under direct supervision at assigned clinical sites, our students will perform non-sterile and sterile surgical case management duties.

Learn about surgical technology as it relates to pharmacology, anesthesia, information technology, electricity, robotics, all-hazards preparation, and microbiology.
