Earn a Certificate in Electrical Technology in as few as 10 months or an A.S. Degree in about 14 months.
SJVC’s Electrical Technology (ET) program is available at multiple campuses in California and meets the standards set forth by the California Department of Industrial Relations towards the current California Electrician Certification Program. View approval.
Upon completion of the Electrical Technology program, the student should be able to install, maintain, and repair electrical equipment and systems in a safe, competent, and professional manner. Upon completion of the program, the student is eligible to sit for the California General Electrician’s Certification Exam. SJVC prepares students to take appropriate certification and licensure exams related to their individual majors. The College does not guarantee students will successfully pass these exams or be certified or licensed as a result of completing the program.

At SJVC, you get the classes you need so you can graduate on time. Since we offer evening classes, in addition to morning and/or afternoon classes (varies by location), many students continue to work and spend time with family while completing their program.

The Electrical Technology certificate program is 40 weeks in length and provides a framework of electrical knowledge and skills that can be adapted in the electrical trade industry.
